Shongum Lake

Inlet Filter Program: Twenty inlet filters are currently installed in storm drains along the portion of Radke Road nearest to Hanover to catch sediment and other debris and keep them from getting into the lake. The filters were assessed and cleaned by Randolph Department of Public Works (DPW) in Spring 2022. New filters and replacement bags have been ordered and will be installed by Randolph DPW to replace some of those in poor condition and all of those missing their bags. As of fall 2023 all new inlet filters have been installed.

Beach Erosion Project:  Phases 1 and 2 are complete.  Phases 3 and 4 are underway Spring 2024 with C&P Masons extending the existing curbing along the beach access road and adding a rocky cascade to a rain garden to direct and capture water.  C&P is also renovating the picnic areas and adding 2 additional picnic areas, all with stone walls.  Additional drainage is being added at the playground and the horseshoe pits are being reinforced with stone.
